~Excerpt~

Jason,
Thinking on my feet, I make a fake lead by opening up the basement door then I head into the kitchen. In the kitchen, I went straight for the stove. Looking over my shoulders, checking to see if the guy was coming, I twist the stove’s knobs to turn on the gas.
A pop and in moments blazes of fire come forth, showing all six burners were working. Smiling in satisfaction, I twist on my heels and scan the room for a weapon. Seeing nothing in plain sight, I start to go through drawers.
Finding a drawer full of knives, I pick up the biggest and closest to grab. Pulling it out, the long, rusty, square butcher knife felt good in my hand. Running a finger along the blade, I knew it would be sharp enough to cause damage.
Perceiving a truck leaving the grounds, afterwards a shotgun going off towards it, I slam the drawer close and look up. Waiting for the father to come in after me. Slowly, I walk along the kitchen island and look down the doorway, towards the front of the house.
The front door slammed open, revealing a muttering middle aged man. Holding the shotgun, barrel of two, he walks to the foyer table and pulls on the drawers forcefully. As he went through them, I ducked behind the wall of the stairwell.

Chapter One

Ashley

Jason…” I whispered down into the cold, dark basement.

Listening but I heard nothing in response. Turning, I then looked up to the basement door making sure no one came up from behind.

Taking the last few wooden steps down, I call out his name again, “Jason?”

This time I caught someone muffling my name. Twisting my neck I see a small hallway behind me, lining the side of the stairwell. Stepping to the left side of the railing I spot a poorly lit room, with Jason lying flat on his back.

Running towards him I got a closer look at the place and his situation. An unfinished room, two by fours creating a wall with plastic sheets hanging from the ceiling, in front of me. And Jason was in the middle of it all, placed on top of a white metal table.

Getting to his side I clench my fingers around the edge of the table, stopping myself and look down at him. Scanning his body from head to toe, he had metal shackles bounding his hands and feet while duct tape was keeping him from speaking.

Going for the duct tape, I squeeze my eyes shut and whisper, “Sorry.” then rip it off. Before he could cry out I clamp a hand down to his lips and reopen my eyes. Seeing tears water up, I let go and whip the tape off of my fingertips, letting it fall besides him on the table.

Moving onto the metal shackles around his wrists I ask him, “Anything hurt? How’d they get you? Where are they? How many? I lost count.” in one big mumble. I was trying not to fumble over my words when the shackles started to tear at my fingertips, causing them to bleed.

Ignoring most of the questions he answered, “No, not anything majorly hurting.” seeing what was happening to my fingers he spoke, “You’ll have to find something to unlock them with.”

Agreeing, I look around the room but all I saw were surgical tools. “Don’t see anything that could help.”, but get a different opinion when I catch sight on a crowbar in a pile of crates, by the frame of a soon to be wall.

Sprinting for it, I clasp my hand around it then go back to working on the shackle around his right wrist. Prying it underneath and above his hand I was in the process of bending it, trying to make it a little bigger so he could slip out.

Getting it to work but slowly, “Come on.” I breathed tiredly.

That’s good. You’re almost there.” The last effort, it moved up and he was able to squirm his hand free.

“Okay, next one.” Leaning over him I move my efforts on his left wrist. But before I could get started, my eyes were magnetized by the little red mark on the inside of his arm.

“They drugged you.” I state, looking over the needle mark while caressing it with my fingers, them leaving trails of blood around it.

“Ash, forget it!” he demanded, “Just focus on getting me out of here.”

Nodding, I force the metal shackle to bend under my will.

Feeling like I was getting close to finishing this one, I got the sense that we weren’t alone anymore. Looking over my shoulder, the swift of my movement caused the scarred man behind us to throw his axe towards my face.

Quickly ducking, I fall to the ground while taking grip on the table. Hearing the axe get stuck into the wall on the other side, I slyly crane my neck to see what he was going to do next.

Greasy, dirt matted hair covered my face from his view but I watch him perfectly as he walks around, on our left, going for the wall mounted axe.

Holding my breath shakily, I pull myself up and continued to work with freeing Jason, but don’t think for one second that I took my eyes off of the guy.

Immediately getting his left hand out, he jumps into a sitting position and takes the crowbar out of my hands, pushing me away from the table.

“Go!” he yelled.

“No!” I screamed back. I started to say something else but the sound of the scarred man getting his axe free choked me up.

Moving my eyes franticly from him and the crowbar Jason stole from me, I dive for it.

“No.” Jason rips it out of my reach and shoves against my chest, aiming me towards the way out.

The man started to move closer to me, going around the table end where Jason’s feet were still shackled down.

Biting my lip, I whimper out, “No.” Giving one last look towards Jason then shoot off, down the hallway towards the stairs.

Reaching the stairs, I take hold of the railing and begin to swing myself up the steps when lightening flashed and a silhouette of a small boy came into view. Freezing, I saw him take in a deep breath then begin to charge my way,

“No you don’t!” he shouted over the storm that was going on outside.

Pulling my frame up the stairs, I caught a lash as he swung a knife for me,.....

Again, I hoped you enjoyed this small part of chapter one!

Tune in Tuesday (4)

Tune in Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Greads

I've posted this song once before on this blog but I want to post it again for this little meme.

It's a favorite and I just can't get enough of this song.

Also, it has a lot of meaning to me as it is written for a very intense scene in my second book in the Broken Installments called Taken. And I can't wait to get to that scene.

So here is Cosmic love by Florance and the Machine

Happy Listening!

Doing some reorganizing.....Books

So I have this small black wood bookcase that holds many books for me but just recently I found out that by placing them on there sides there's hell of a lot more room than by standing them straight up.

So the past week I've been changing the style of placing my books, on their shelving, on their side and in alphabetical order. And between you and me, I think it looks better that way.

Overall view- that black line is covering my old high schools name (so I don't get any stalkers, if you know what I mean) :)

And here's a picture of my third shelf

Fully read books on the left and Not fully read on the right

Now that I got it finsihed (and the dust messing up my already sore throat) I'm going to rest. Been sick for the past few days (since saturday) and this was a test of my strength. Getting there.

Oh, and don't think that's all my books. I've got many, many more around the various rooms I use.

Happy Friday Everybody!

End product (1)

So, just last night I finished (though stressed and been pricked to many times to truly say) my first sewing project, Pajama Pants, for my class.

Now, silly me, I forgot to document ever step but I promise next time(when I start my second project for class, which is next week) I'll make sure I do so.

I turned it in today but she gave them back so I'm not for sure if she graded them or what. Humph, oh well. She's the teacher she knows what shes doing.

But overall the experiences was great and my mom can't wait till I can start making them for her. And, neither can I, however I'm packed full with school right now (mostly my crazy days are Monday's & Wednesday's).

I had fun making them and once I got the hang of it I was moving in no time. Hopefully next time I won't prick myself as much.

Love & Peace
